Hyderabad: In a move that will have a major impact on the land prices in Telangana, the state cabinet has decided to revise the land prices from May 2026.

This will have a large impact as Telangana has a large pool of land.

The cabinet meet has decided to bridge the gap between government rates of land and the actual market rates of land. These new revised rates will impact the real estate in the state.

Key Highlights of the Telangana Cabinet Decisions

1. Rationalization of Land Market Values

The government has decided to revise and rationalize land prices across the state to bridge the gap between "government rates" and "actual market values."

Implementation: Revised values will come into effect in the last week of May 2026.

Objective: To ensure fair compensation for those losing land to development projects and to stabilize revenue from registrations.

2. LRS (Layout Regularization Scheme) Window

The Cabinet offered a final opportunity for applicants under the LRS policy.

Applicants can pay 10% of the amount now to lock in current land prices before the upcoming rate hike.

The remaining 90% must be paid within 90 days.

3. CBI Probe into Power Sector Irregularities

The Cabinet has officially approved handing over the investigation into alleged irregularities in power purchases and the construction of Bhadradri and Yadadri Thermal Power Projects to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Background: Initially, a commission headed by Retired Justice L. Narasimha Reddy was formed, later replaced by Justice Madan B. Lokur following Supreme Court orders.

The Report: A 114-page report was submitted in October 2024.

Reason for CBI: Since the case involves inter-state issues and Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), the Cabinet concluded that a CBI probe is necessary for an impartial investigation.

Following crop damage caused by recent unseasonal rains, the Chief Minister directed district-in-charge ministers to immediately assess the damage and initiate relief measures for affected farmers.

5. NARMAC & NDDB Collaboration

The government approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to hand over the Nalgonda-Rangareddy Milk Producers Mutually Aided Co-operative Union Ltd (NARMAC) to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The NDDB will now manage the dairy plant's operations, processing, and marketing.
