Peddapalli: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna said the Telangana government has given jobs to more than one lakh youth within two years of coming to power.
Speaking at a mega job fair held as part of the 99-day Praja Palana - Pragati Pranalika initiative, the MP stated that the government is on track to generate an additional 15,000 to 20,000 jobs soon through specialized skill development programs.
Skill Development at the Forefront
Vamsi Krishna highlighted the critical role of Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) in making youth industry-ready.
Current Infrastructure: 65 ATCs are already operational across the state.
Future Expansion: 120 new ATCs are slated for launch, which are expected to create thousands of fresh opportunities.
New Tech Hubs: Earlier in the day, the MP and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated the TASK-AVGC & Artificial Intelligence Center and the TASK-CtrlS Talent Center in Manthani to bring world-class digital training to rural students.
IT Minister Sridhar Babu, who also attended the fair, noted that the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) has already facilitated 4,000 opportunities, with 1,500 candidates securing immediate placements. In response to local demand, the Minister promised to organize a similar mega job fair in the Mancherial district shortly.
Background: Recruitment Drive
Since taking office in December 2023, the Revanth Reddy-led government has made job recruitment a priority.
1. The first year
In its first 12 months, the government issued appointment letters to approximately 30,000 to 50,000 candidates. While many of these recruitments (such as those for police constables and staff nurses) were initiated under the previous BRS regime, the current government prioritized clearing legal hurdles and fast-tracking the final results to hand out appointment orders within months of taking charge.
2. DSC (Teachers): The government conducted one of the largest teacher recruitment drives (Mega DSC) to fill over 11,000 posts.
Group Services: After restructuring the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to restore candidate trust, the government conducted Group-I, Group-II, and Group-III examinations to fill thousands of administrative vacancies.
Healthcare: Thousands of staff nurses and medical officers were hired to strengthen the public health infrastructure.
3. The Roadmap to Two Lakh Jobs
The Congress government initially promised to fill two lakh government vacancies within its first year. While legal challenges and the restructuring of the TGPSC caused some delays, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently reiterated the commitment to reach the one lakh mark by June 2026 and fulfill the remaining vacancies in a phased manner.
Shift Toward Private Sector & Skills
Recognizing that government jobs alone cannot solve unemployment, the administration has shifted focus toward skill-based placement. By partnering with tech giants like CtrlS and focusing on sectors like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics), the state aims to bridge the gap between rural education and urban industry requirements.
