CM pledges financial support from govt

Speaking at the Finland and Germany Exposure Program in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister urged educators to build world-class educational institutions and pledged full state funding for overseas professional development.

"From now on, we will provide teachers with opportunities to go abroad for further studies. Plans must be formulated to ensure the government bears the costs required for quality education," CM Revanth told the delegation.

From student enrolments to state investments

Here are highlights from the CM's speech about changes to the state education system:

- December Deadline: Officials have been instructed to submit a comprehensive action plan for the next academic year by December, utilising a cluster-based approach at the mandal level.

- Foreign Exposure: Regular study tours abroad to adopt best practices from leading global education hubs like Germany, Japan and Singapore.

- Increased Enrolment: The public education system registered an additional 1,00,000 student enrolments this academic year.

- Per-Student Investment: The State Government currently spends Rs 1.08 lakh per student annually, compared to the average Rs 50,000 spent by parents in private schools.

- Comprehensive Welfare: Expansion of free breakfast, mid-day meals and uniform distribution from Nursery through Class 12.

'True backwardness comes from lack of education'

Addressing teachers and delegates, CM Revanth emphasised that true backwardness stems from a lack of education rather than social or financial status.

He called on teachers to foster strong human values, discipline and global competitiveness among students. "If English were the only criterion, China would not have dominated the world," CM Revanth noted.

"For 25 years, we looked towards America; now, we must focus on countries like Germany, Japan and Singapore where abundant opportunities are available," he said.

The Chief Minister also defended his government's structural reforms, pointing to the conversion of ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), teacher recruitment drives, and the establishment of a dedicated Skills University led by global corporate leaders.

CM Revanth responds to demands for resignation of Edu Min

Rebuffing opposition demands for his resignation as Education Minister, the CM questioned whether critics took issue with structural welfare improvements, prompt salary disbursements on the first of every month, or student-centric infrastructure upgrades.

He asserted that the current administration remains firmly committed to governing through 2034.

While assuring teachers that the government is fully committed to resolving their grievances, he called on teacher associations to focus their advocacy on student welfare and institutional growth.

Debt burden of PM Modi

Broadening his address, CM Revanth levied strong criticism against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the national debt trajectory.

Reddy pointed out that while total national debt incurred by all Prime Ministers from independence up to 2014 stood at Rs 50 lakh crore, the debt added between 2014 and 2026 reached Rs 151 lakh crore, bringing the national total to Rs 201 lakh crore.

Praise for Congress PMs

In contrast, CM Revanth praised former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and PV Narasimha Rao for their foundational contributions to India's growth:

Jawaharlal Nehru: Honoured for establishing major irrigation projects-termed the 'modern temples' of India-and Five-Year Plans that paved the way for Telangana's current annual production of 28.5 million metric tonnes of paddy.

PV Narasimha Rao: Credited with introducing residential school models that later inspired the national Navodaya Vidyalaya network.

The CM concluded by urging educators to dedicate the next five years to transforming Telangana's public schools into national role models.
