Cyberabad: Are you segregating your waste at home? The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) is stepping up its sanitation efforts. It is urging citizens to play a more active role in keeping the city's environment clean and hygienic.
Following a high-level inspection of the Secondary Collection and Transfer Point (SCTP) on Thursday, the CMC Commissioner, G Srijana, IAS, issued strict directives to improve waste management standards. To ensure these goals are met, the corporation is seeking cooperation from every household.
What citizens need to do?
1. Prioritise Waste Segregation: The most critical step is at the source. Residents are mandated to ensure strict segregation of wet and dry waste before handing it over to collection staff.
2. Support Efficient Disposal: Help avoid the accumulation of trash by adhering to scheduled garbage collection timings, ensuring that waste is handed over to the authorised collection systems regularly.
3. Report Illegal Dumping: To stop the menace of secondary dumping (garbage piling up in unauthorised areas), the corporation is implementing stringent measures and asks residents to be vigilant against illegal dumping around collection points.
What is the CMC planning to do?
During the inspection, the Commissioner, accompanied by senior officials including the Additional Commissioner (UBD) and the Chief City Planner, reviewed the efficiency of current waste transportation systems.
To back up these citizen-led efforts, the CMC has ordered:
Enhanced Field-Level Monitoring: Field staff will now provide continuous supervision to ensure that sanitation standards are sustained across all zones.
Strict Upkeep of Transfer Points: Immediate steps are being taken to ensure that Secondary Collection and Transfer Points (SCTP) maintain high hygienic and environmental safety standards.
For a healthier Cyberabad
"The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation remains committed to scientific waste management and improved sanitation practices," the Commissioner stated.
The corporation hopes that by combining better field monitoring with active participation from residents in source segregation, they can realise their vision of a cleaner, more sustainable, and healthier Cyberabad.
