Hyderabad: Dr. Priyanka Ala, a 2016 batch IAS officer, assumed charge as the new collector of Hyderabad on Sunday.

She is among 13 officers transferred by the state government in a major administrative reshuffle.

Who is Priyanka Ala?

Dr. Priyanka Ala is not just an accomplished civil servant but also a qualified medical professional. Before clearing the challenging Civil Services Examination, she earned her MBBS degree, blending her medical background with her dedication to public administration. Having grown up in Telangana, she shares a deep connection with the state and its people, a factor many believe will help her address the city's complex urban challenges.

Before taking up this prestigious role in the state capital, Dr. Priyanka Ala was serving as Zonal Commissioner of Khairatabad. Further, she also served as the Collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Part of a Major State-Wide Reshuffle

Dr. Ala's appointment is part of a broader, high-level administrative overhaul.

The Telangana government issued G.O. (Rt. No. 540) to transfer several IAS officers.

- M. Dana Kishore (IAS 1996): Transferred to the post of Special Chief Secretary to the Government, PR & RD, RWS & RSAD Department.

- Harichandana Dasari (IAS 2010): The outgoing Hyderabad Collector has been transferred and posted as the Secretary to the Government, LET&F Department.

- Krishna Aditya S. (IAS 2014): Moves from his role in Intermediate Education to become Special Secretary to the Government, Industries & Commerce Department.
