'She Knew Too Much': Delhi SWAT Cop's Family Alleges Her Husband's Involvement In Paper Leak

News18 3 months ago

Fresh allegations have emerged in the murder case of Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal, with her family claiming that her husband was involved in a large-scale paper leak racket and that she may have known too much about his activities.

According to an India Today report, Kajal, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana and a member of the Special Cell's SWAT unit of the Delhi Police, died after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her husband, Ankur, at their home on January 22. She was four months pregnant at the time and is survived by a one-and-a-half-year-old son.

According to Kajal's family, Ankur, along with a laboratory operator, had been running a paper leak operation, charging aspirants lakhs of rupees and allegedly earning crores through the illegal activity. They claimed Kajal was aware of several details related to the racket, which may have led to frequent disputes between the couple.

The family has also accused Ankur and his relatives of subjecting Kajal to continuous dowry harassment since the early days of the marriage. Though the couple had a love marriage after knowing each other since college, Kajal's mother said the family had already stretched its finances for the wedding, yet demands allegedly continued.

Disturbing final calls

Relatives recalled a chilling series of phone calls on the night of the incident. Kajal's brother Nikhil, himself a Delhi Police constable, alleged that Ankur called him and threatened to kill Kajal.

"He asked me to record the call, saying it would be useful as police evidence and claimed no one could touch him," Nikhil said. Minutes later, another call came in during which Kajal's screams could be heard in the background, followed by Ankur allegedly saying she was dead and asking the family to come to the hospital.

By the time the family and police reached the couple's residence in Mohan Garden in west Delhi, Kajal had already been rushed to a hospital in critical condition. She was first admitted to a local facility and later shifted to a private hospital in Ghaziabad, where she succumbed to her injuries on January 27.

Police said the 27-year-old commando was allegedly assaulted during a domestic dispute around 10 pm on January 22. Investigators allege Ankur smashed her head against a door frame and struck her with a dumbbell. Forensic teams reportedly found bloodstains on a door frame and a dumbbell suspected to have been used in the attack.

Kajal's family said they last spoke to her over a video call earlier that day and alleged she had been under severe stress and enduring abuse but stayed in the marriage hoping the situation would improve.

Ankur has been arrested, and police are investigating the case under charges related to murder and dowry harassment. Officials said the allegations concerning a paper leak racket are yet to be verified and will be examined as part of the broader investigation, while the primary focus remains on the homicide probe.
