The mini-auction for the IPL 2026 took place on the 16th of December in the year 2025 in Abu Dhabi. It was a day of utmost contrasts for Australian cricket.
On the one hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders went on to smash records by paying a staggering Rs 25.20 crores for all-rounder Cameron Green, who became the most expensive overseas recruit in the league's history. However, on the other hand, the mini-auction proved to be a reality check on one of the world's hottest youngsters in the form of Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Contrary to his nickname of being a "human highlight reel," 23-year-old Fraser-McGurk could not fetch a single offer. He entered the bidding process with a starting price of Rs 2 crore but remained unsold, leaving all and sundry bewildered. It is even more surprising given his credentials, and this is the same McGurk who is the holder of a world record for scoring a century in List A matches in 29 balls, which he accomplished in a 2023 Marsh Cup match against Tasmania.
Fastest Centuries in List A Cricket
The records were shattered once again during the 2025-26 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Bihar captain Sakibul Gani stunned the domestic cricketing circuit in India with his century that was scored in just 32 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.
Although Gani broke the national record for scoring a century in the shortest possible time in an Indian innings, he still lags behind the international standard of Fraser-McGurk.
| Player | Team | Balls to 100 | Opposition | Year |
