MasterChef India 2026 (Season 9) has finally kicked off, and the viewers are tuned in to meet new contestants. Several contestants have shared their inspiring stories and journey of reaching to the show.
Meet Parvati Soni, who broke the boundaries of the patriarchal society around her and reached MasterChef India with her son.
Who is Parvati Soni?
Hailing from Bikaner, Parvati Soni is a professional chef. She revealed that she grew up in a conservative society and only studied till Class 9th before her marriage. But thanks to her husband, her life changed for the better. She revealed that her husband encouraged her to complete her education, and she completed her 10th grade with her son.
As of now, she is a Chef at City Palace's Indian restaurant, owned by the royal family, and the only woman in a team that has 80 men. She has been working as a CDP (Chef de Partie) for three years.
Talking about her husband and how he encouraged her, she revealed, "My husband kept insisting that I should complete my education since the time we got married. I had studied till standard nine, so he asked me to finish my schooling and go to college. I come from a conservative society, so I thought who studies after marriage? When my sons became older, they also kept insisting."
"My husband has struggled a lot since the age of 14. His mother was a Class 8 passout; he made her study till Class 10 along with him," she added.
Parvati said that her son wants her to go to IHM (Institute of Hotel Management) and made her study for the 12th standard via video calls.
Chefs Kunal Kapur, Vikas Khanna, and Ranveer Brar are the judges this season. MasterChef Season 9 airs on Sony TV and SonyLIV at 9 pm every Monday to Friday.
