The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major weather alert for 25 states, warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, hailstorms, and strong winds over the next five days.
Several states in north, east, central, and southern India are expected to witness unstable weather conditions, while parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience winds reaching 70 kmph.
Delhi Weather: Rain and Strong Winds Likely Till April 30
Delhi is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds over the next few days. The IMD has said that wind speeds may reach up to 40 kmph in parts of Delhi-NCR.
Another spell of rain and thunderstorms is expected between May 2 and May 5, which may bring some relief from the rising temperatures.
Uttar Pradesh Weather: 70 kmph Storm, Hail and Rain Alert
The weather department has issued a thundersquall warning for Uttar Pradesh, where wind speeds may touch 70 kmph.
Several districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh may also witness hailstorms, while light to moderate rainfall is expected across the state till April 30.
Residents have been advised to remain indoors during storm activity.
Bihar Weather: Heavy Rain and Lightning Warning
Bihar is under a heavy rain and thunderstorm alert, with the IMD warning of lightning and strong winds in several districts.
Wind speeds may reach up to 70 kmph, and rainfall activity is likely to continue over the next few days.
Rajasthan Weather: Dust Storm and Rain Forecast
Western Rajasthan may witness dust storms between May 2 and May 5, while eastern districts are likely to receive rain till May 5.
Strong winds and dusty conditions may reduce visibility in several areas.
Very Heavy Rain in Assam, Meghalaya, and Nearby States
States including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next five days.
Thunderstorms with wind speeds up to 70 kmph are also expected.
Kerala and Karnataka Weather: Heavy Rain Warning
Heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala, Mahe, and south interior Karnataka till May 2.
Interior Karnataka and Telangana may also witness hailstorms, while coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are expected to see unstable weather till May 3.
IMD Advisory
The IMD has advised people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid standing near trees, poles, or open areas during lightning activity.
