Adam Zampa explained why he is not playing in the IPL 2026. After Kavya Maran's Sunrisers Hyderabad let him go, he decided not to join the player auction last year.
Zampa said he felt the money offered wasn't enough for his skills or for the two months he would have to spend away from home.
Zampa has played in five IPL seasons so far. Last year, Kavya Maran's Sunrisers Hyderabad paid him 2.40 crore, which was the most money he has ever made in the league. Even though he has been on four different teams since 2016, he has only played in 22 matches. He has never been a regular player who stays in the starting lineup for any team.

"I pulled out of the IPL this year. To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, I just don't get the money that is there for other skill sets. And for the amount of time that the IPL takes, it just didn't seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing it," Zampa said on the ARY Podcast.

Even though he is skipping the IPL, Australian bowler Adam Zampa is playing in the 2026 PSL for the Karachi Kings, a team captained by David Warner. The Karachi Kings bought him for 4.5 crore PKR, which is about 1.51 crore in Indian Rupees.
"I was going to have a break, but PSL was on the radar about a month ago. It all happened pretty quickly, but I'm enjoying it," Zampa added.
Even though Zampa isn't playing in the IPL this year, he still holds a special record. He is the only spin bowler to ever take six wickets in a single match in the tournament's history. He set this record back in 2016 while playing for the Rising Pune Supergiants against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In that game, he bowled 4 overs, gave up only 19 runs, and took 6 wickets.
