Bank Holidays: If you have an account with the State Bank of India or are planning to visit a bank branch next week, this update is important for you.
Banks in several cities across India will remain closed due to Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) holidays and a proposed two-day strike by SBI employees.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in different states will remain shut on multiple days between May 26 and May 28. Along with this, SBI staff unions have announced a nationwide strike on May 25 and May 26.
Why are banks closed next week?
Banks will remain closed in several states next week due to multiple holidays and a proposed strike by SBI employees. The closures are scheduled because of the regional observance of Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti, Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) celebrations in different parts of the country, and regular weekend holidays.
In addition, employees of State Bank of India have announced a proposed nationwide strike on May 25 and May 26, which may affect branch banking services across the country. Customers are advised to complete important banking work in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Digital banking services to remain active
Despite the bank holidays, customers will continue to have access to essential digital banking services. UPI platforms such as Google Pay and PhonePe, along with net banking and mobile banking applications, will remain operational throughout the holiday period.
TM cash withdrawal services, online fund transfers and bill payment facilities will also continue to function normally.
Customers are advised to complete important branch-related banking work in advance to avoid any inconvenience during the extended holiday period.
