CM Rekha Gupta calls for coordinated efforts to address waterlogging

News24 Online 1 week ago

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta issued a firm warning to the officials, stating that waterlogging will not be overlooked anywhere in the national capital.

Chairing an Apex district development committee on Monday, CM Gupta reviewed the monsoon preparedness, and Infrastructural upgrades in city schools and preparations for the Kanwar Yatra.

PTI reported that, according to the official statement, in light of concerns expressed by MLAs in the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed all the concerned departments to address all issues in a time-bound manner.

CM Gupta instructed the concerned agencies to ensure their joint working and close coordination. She also ordered a joint surprise inspection where it is needed, to carry out necessary works on the spot, for providing speedy relief to the public.

In addition, she asserted that the public does not worry as to which department agency has to work in which area, and is looking for a permanent solution to their problem, and further said that the concerned officers shall have to come out of their offices to visit the area on the ground and will review the ground reality on a day-to-day basis.

PTI further reported that CM Gupta also directed that poorly-maintained school toilets would not be tolerated.

'Many schools had outstanding results through involvement of communities, CSR activities, and crowdfunding, which could be emulated by other districts as well,' said CM Gupta.

Reviewing preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, Gupta directed district magistrates to coordinate with registered camp organisers and ensure all arrangements are completed in advance.

She instructed officials to provide adequate drinking water, sanitation, medical aid, electricity and traffic management to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees.
