BTS member Jungkook has been busy promoting his latest album 'Arirang' with other bandmates. Amid this, he also got involved in a controversy due to a livestream.
Recently, Jungkook went live on Weverse to address the backlash and apologised to BTS ARMY.
What was Jungkook's controversy about?
For the unversed, Jungkook went live on Weverse in February 2026, where he was drunk. He received some backlash due to his gestures, which some netizens believed were obscene. He said, "I'm 30 now - can't I talk about it? I used to smoke a lot, but I worked hard to quit. But if I say this, my company will probably make a fuss again. Even me acting like this while drunk is part of who I am. I want to speak freely without worrying about the company."
What Jungkook said in his apology?
Jungkook said that he does not think if he did something seriously wrong but still apologised to fans. He said, "I personally don't really know if I did something seriously wrong. People on YouTube or streaming industry say these things all the time. But since I haven't shown this side of myself before, some fans may have felt uncomfortable. If any ARMY felt that way, I want to say I'm sorry. I'll try to be more careful."
"I think you know how I feel about ARMY. I try to do well because of you. I can't say I'm a perfect or flawless person, but I've always been genuine with you. That's why I still wanted to apologise," he added.
He further clarified, "I don't think what I did was wrong. There were also many people who enjoyed it. But since ARMY is diverse, some may have felt uncomfortable, so I wanted to apologize for that."
However, BTS ARMY were quick to defend the K-pop star and said that he does not need to apologise. Fans talked about the pressure on K-pop idols to remain perfect all the time and supported Jungkook.
Currently, Jungkook is promoting his album Arirang along with other BTS members.
