A proposed eight-lane elevated expressway aimed at improving connectivity to Noida International Airport has received a major alignment revision.
The new corridor will now begin at the DND Flyway and connect with the Yamuna Expressway at Chi-IV in Greater Noida, near Gautam Buddha University.
Earlier, the project was planned to start from Sector 94 near the Okhla Barrage.
The revised alignment was reviewed on Friday during a meeting between the Noida Authority and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is responsible for executing the project.
A Noida Authority official said, 'The NHAI consultant said that the proposed expressway is planned to start from the DND Flyway and connect to Yamuna Expressway at Chi-IV. A DPR of the project will be made soon.'
Revised route likely to extend corridor length
The updated alignment is expected to increase the length of the expressway by around 5 kilometres, taking it from the originally proposed 31 kilometres to nearly 36 kilometres.
Officials had earlier explored extending the corridor up to the DND Flyway. However, the proposal was initially dropped because the route would have passed through environmentally and culturally sensitive areas, including the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Dalit Prerna Sthal.
Authorities said the final alignment through Greater Noida and the Yamuna region will be decided after consultations with the concerned agencies.
Project aims to ease traffic on Noida Expressway
The elevated corridor is being developed to reduce congestion on the Noida Expressway, which is expected to witness a significant increase in traffic once operations begin at Noida International Airport.

According to officials, the expressway will pass through Sectors 94, 95 and 125-135, covering major corporate hubs, residential complexes and several nearby villages.
Repair work on Yamuna Pushta Road also reviewed
During the meeting, officials also reviewed the resurfacing and repair work on Yamuna Pushta Road, which is maintained by the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department and is currently in poor condition due to potholes and damaged stretches.
The Noida Authority has already released the first instalment of Rs 11 crore for the repair work. However, construction is yet to begin.
Executive Engineer BK Singh from the irrigation department said the project, estimated to cost Rs 34 crore, will begin shortly and is expected to be completed within three months.
Project targeted for completion within two years
Earlier in June, Noida Authority General Manager AK Arora had stated that the NHAI-led expressway project is expected to be completed within two years.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Noida Authority CEO Satish Pal, representatives from SMEC India Pvt Ltd, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited, the irrigation department and officials from the Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities.
