Petrol Diesel Price Highlights: After the Rs 3 per litre price hike, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged today. Due to mounting pressure on oil marketing companies, state-run firms such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) had increased fuel prices by Rs 3 per litre.

The government had also raised CNG prices by Rs 2 per kg in cities such as Delhi and Mumbai on Friday. Just two days later, CNG prices in the Delhi-NCR region were increased again by Re 1 per kg on Sunday.

Crude oil Price Today

Global crude oil prices continued their upward march on Monday, rising over 2% as growing geopolitical tensions in West Asia rattled energy markets. Brent crude crossed the USD 111 per barrel mark, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude moved above USD 107 per barrel, adding to last week's strong gains of nearly 8% to 11% in both benchmarks.

Inflation fear is all time high

Economists believe the fuel price hike could push India's retail inflation higher by 15 to 25 basis points. Transporters have also warned that since diesel is the main fuel used by trucks, freight costs may rise by around 2.5% to 3% in the next few weeks, which could make goods more expensive.
