The war between the US, Israel and Iran in West Asia has caused problems with LPG gas and fuel supplies in India. This shortage might make it difficult to host the Indian Premier League 2026 which starts on 28th March in Bengaluru.

In big cities like Chennai and Bengaluru, hotel owners say they only have enough gas to last for a day or two. Because of this many hotels are making their food menus smaller to save as much gas as possible.

On Monday, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas shared an update on social media. They explained that because there is not enough LPG gas right now so they are giving it to homes and essential services first.

What did IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal say?

"We are reviewing the development. Since this is an evolving situation, nothing can be said as of now. But given the requirement of the situation, we will take a call accordingly," Dhumal mentioned.

It is worth mentioning that IPL's official match schedule is not out yet so the BCCI and IPL plan to start the tournament on 28th March. They are trying to make sure the matches do not happen at the same time as state elections. However if the gas and fuel shortage continues then the league may have to make a difficult move. This problem is serious because it affects more than just cricket, it also impacts factories, hospitals and schools.
