Marketed as Vijay's final film before stepping away from acting to focus on politics, the action drama generated huge excitement before release. However, mixed audience reactions and the usual weekday decline have affected its momentum at the box office. Despite the drop, the film has crossed the Rs 153 crore mark at the Indian box office within eight days.

Day 8 Box Office Collection

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan collected an estimated Rs 3.98 crore net in India on its second Thursday (Day 8). The film was screened across 5,496 shows nationwide and recorded an overall occupancy of 16.9%.

The latest figures take the film's total India net collection to approximately Rs 153.48 crore. While the occupancy showed a slight improvement compared to the previous day, collections dropped by around 35% from Day 7, reflecting the typical weekday trend after a strong opening week.

Strong Opening, But Momentum Slowed

The H. Vinoth directorial opened with an impressive Rs 42.70 crore on its first Thursday, making it one of the biggest openings of the year. The film then earned Rs 21.15 crore on Friday before bouncing back over the weekend. Collections climbed to Rs 28.90 crore on Saturday and reached their highest single-day total of Rs 32 crore on Sunday as weekend footfalls remained strong.

The momentum, however, changed dramatically once the weekdays began.

Weekday Decline Continues

Monday witnessed the biggest drop of the film's run, with collections falling to Rs 10.65 crore, nearly 67% lower than Sunday's earnings. The decline continued through the week. The film collected Rs 8 crore on Tuesday and Rs 6.10 crore on Wednesday before adding an estimated Rs 3.98 crore on its second Thursday. Although the collections have slowed considerably, Jana Nayagan continues to perform steadily in Tamil Nadu, while its Hindi and Telugu versions contribute smaller shares to the overall business.
