Moving forward after the T20 World Cup 2026, England star Jos Buttler admitted that he did not play as well as people expected. However, he made it very clear that he is not retiring from international cricket yet.

Even though he is considered one of the best white ball batters of his time, but the GT star struggled during the tournament. He scored only 87 runs in eight innings. Despite his poor form, England reached the semifinals, where they lost to the co-hosts and eventual champions, India. Buttler has dismissed any talk of retirement and says he wants to keep playing.

What did Jos Buttler say?

"I hope so," Buttler said of his England future on 'For the Love of Cricket' podcast. "I don't know. Obviously, I had a poor tournament, which is disappointing, but I've been playing some of the best cricket of my career in recent years, so hopefully, I can get back to playing my best.

"I certainly have ambitions [to continue playing for England], but no longer being a captain, I'm not a selector and whatever, so what will be will be. Yeah, we will see," he continued.

Jos Buttler has recently struggled with his form

Once a great batter, Jos Buttler has recently struggled with his form. After a disappointing T20 World Cup, he felt the need to step away from cricket for a short break. He spent a week in the mountains of France to relax and clear his mind. Buttler believes this might have been his last World Cup, and he knows that his future in the team now depends on what the selectors decide.

"I couldn't have been further away from cricket, which for me at the time was just perfect. It's exactly what I needed," Buttler said.

"It was really refreshing - I really enjoyed it, a complete sort of release. And slowly but surely, I'd say at the start of this week, [I am] just starting to reflect a bit and have a few thoughts about what's important to me and my cricket, and why it probably didn't go quite as I would've liked," he added.
