Kia India has officially confirmed the arrival of the Sorento Hybrid in the country by releasing its first teaser and opening pre-bookings.
The upcoming SUV will become Kia's first hybrid model in the Indian market and is expected to strengthen the brand's presence in the premium three-row SUV segment.
Expected to launch before Diwali 2026, the Sorento Hybrid will be positioned above the Seltos as Kia's flagship SUV and is likely to be locally assembled to keep pricing competitive.
Premium three-row SUV
Kia Sorento measures 4815mm in length, making it larger than rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. It is expected to be offered in six-seat and seven-seat configurations, catering to buyers looking for a spacious family SUV.
The teaser indicates Kia will bring its latest global design language to India, featuring a bold upright stance, vertically stacked LED lighting, slim LED daytime running lamps and a muscular SUV profile.
Premium cabin and features
Inside, the Sorento Hybrid is expected to offer a feature-rich cabin with a premium finish. Expected highlights include twin 12.3-inch displays, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, head-up display, electronic parking brake, and more.
SUV is also expected to come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and autonomous emergency braking.
Hybrid engine
Internationally, the Sorento Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid powertrain that produces 238hp and 380Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Kia has not yet confirmed whether the India-spec model will be offered with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive or both. Official fuel efficiency figures are also yet to be announced, although the hybrid setup is expected to deliver significantly better mileage than similarly sized petrol SUVs.
Expected price and rivals
Kia Sorento Hybrid is expected to be priced from around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete with premium three-row SUVs such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and higher variants of the Toyota Fortuner.
