The BMC has advised people to step out only if necessary. In case of an emergency, residents can contact the BMC helpline (1916) and are urged to follow all official advisories.

Will Schools Remain Closed Beyond July 7?

According to ANI, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde said schools are closed on July 7 due to continuous heavy rain, and the closure could be extended if weather conditions do not improve.

She said the city is under a Red Alert because of forecasts of heavy rain, strong winds and high tide. Weather alerts are being sent to residents every 30 minutes, and people have been asked to avoid going outdoors. Private companies have also been advised to allow employees to work from home, while local train services continue to operate.

Mayor Tawde also urged people to avoid unnecessary travel until July 8-10, depending on the weather.

CM Fadnavis Confirms School Closure

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also confirmed that schools and colleges will remain closed as heavy rain continues to affect Mumbai and nearby districts.

The IMD has issued a Red Alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Pune and the Ghats of Nashik, forecasting very heavy rainfall, strong winds and possible waterlogging.

High Tide Warning for Mumbai

After reviewing the flood situation at the Disaster Control Room in Mantralaya, Chief Minister Fadnavis warned residents about the high tide expected on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities Urge Residents to Stay Indoors

The BMC has appealed to people to remain indoors unless travel is absolutely necessary. Residents have also been advised to avoid waterlogged roads, damaged buildings and landslide-prone areas as heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the next few days.
