Mumbai water cut: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will carry out important pipeline work in Mumbai, leading to water supply disruptions in several areas.

The work will involve installing two large butterfly valves on the Sewree Tunnel-Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir pipeline at Haji Bunder Road. It will continue for 18 hours, from 10 am on April 16 to 4 am on April 17.

Mumbai water cut: List of affected areas

Due to this work, the water supply will be completely shut off or reduced in parts of the city. Areas likely to be affected include:

  • Masjid Bunder
  • Memonwada

Low-pressure supply in these areas

In some areas, water supply will not be completely cut but will be available at low pressure. These include:

  • Abdul Rehman Street
  • Nakhoda
  • Piru Galli
  • Kambekar Street

Residents in these areas may face difficulty due to reduced water flow.

Some areas will face a complete shutdown on April 16, including:

  • Liladhar Shah Marg
  • Dana Bunder
  • Sant Tukaram Road

Purpose of the work

The valve installation work is aimed at improving water supply to key reservoirs, including Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir, Fosbery Hill Reservoir, and Golanji Hill Reservoir. The project is expected to strengthen the overall water distribution system in Mumbai.

The BMC has advised residents to store enough water in advance and use it carefully during the shutdown period. People are also advised to boil and filter drinking water for the next 4-5 days as a precaution.
