Punjab: CM Charanjit Channi to expand cabinet, drop 4 Captain loyalists after meet with Rahul Gandhi
Chandigarh: The new Punjab cabinet of chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi will take shape tomorrow at Raj Bhawan, at 4:30 pm after three rounds of meeting with the Congress high command—two at Rahul Gandhi's residence.
Channi today met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and after the meeting announced that Punjab cabinet expansion will be held tomorrow.
Four ministers, considered to be Captain Amarinder Singh's loyalists, are likely to be dropped from Channi's new cabinet; half a dozen of new faces are to be introduced, sources said.
The likely new faces are Raj Kumar Verka, Sangat Singh Giljian, Punjab Congress' working president Kuljeet Nagra, Gurkeerat Singh Kotli, general secretary of Punjab PCC Pargat Singh, Rana Gurjit, and Raja Warring.
Meanwhile, ministers who could be dropped from the cabinet are Sunder Shyam Arora, Sandhu Singh Dharamsot, Balbir Sidhu, Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, Gurpreet Singh Kangar.
