Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has been penalised by BCCI for violating the IPL 2026 code of conduct in match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 4, Thursday.
The opener was fined 25% of his match fee and he received one demerit point due to the offence.
Abhishek Sharma violates IPL Code of Conduct
The breach falls under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which abstains from use of offensive or inappropriate language that can be heard by the spectators or broadcast through the stump mics.
The article states that "covers the use of words commonly known and understood to be offensive, obscene and/or profane (in any language) and which can be heard by the spectators and/or the viewing public whether by way of the stump-microphone or otherwise. This conduct may include, for example, swearing in frustration at one's own play or fortune"
Abhishek Sharma's strong performance against KKR
Abhishek Sharma played a very crucial role in SRH's dominating total of 226/8 and he scored 48 off 21 deliveries. He build a solid opening stand of 82 runs with Travis Head before getting dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani. His innings included four boundaries and four sixes.
Heinrich Klaasen & Jaydev Unadkat lead SRH towards solid win
For SRH, Heinrich Klaasen capitalised with a strong start and smashed a half-century while Nitish Reddy scored 39 off 24 balls. In response, KKR started aggressively with Finn Allen smashing 24 runs in the first over bowled by David Payne. But SRH regained control and made sure to make a solid comeback with Jaydey Unadkat delivering an impressive spell of 3/21 as the team piled up KKR at the score of 161 in 16 overs.
