TCS Nashik Scandal: Operations have been temporarily shut at a TCS business process outsourcing (BPO) facility in Maharashtra's Nashik.
The development comes amid a row over sexual harassment and forced conversion cases, with employees asked on Thursday to work from home until further notice. "TCS has asked its employees at Nasik station to work from home. The decision has been taken for the convenience and safety of employees," says TCS sources.
Nine female staff come forward to report the matter
The Tata Consultancy Centre came under scrutiny after a sexual abuse scandal, allegations of mental harassment, and forced religious conversion emerged, prompting a SIT probe. At least nine female staff have reported the matter, alleging a years-long pattern of sexual abuse and forced coercion. The accusations also include claims that employees were forced to eat specific foods and be a part of religious practices without their consent.
7 male accused acted as group, says Nashik Police Commissioner
Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik said that the probe indicates that the seven male accused operated in a coordinated manner within the workplace, allegedly targeting women staff. "The seven male employees are co-accused in most of the cases, suggesting they acted as a group," he said.
