The trailer for Christopher Nolan's epic film The Odyssey is out, and it puts the spotlight on Matt Damon as Odysseus, fighting his way back home after the Trojan War.
The film will release in cinemas and IMAX on July 17, 2026, and is being promoted as a big, mythic action drama shot with new IMAX film technology.
What does The Odyssey trailer show?
The film is based on the classic Greek myth of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, here played by Matt Damon. In the trailer, we can see Odysseus on a long and dangerous journey across seas and strange lands after the Trojan War. His struggle to return to Ithaca, where his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) are in growing danger from scheming men at court.
We get glimpses of storms, mysterious islands, and monsters, hinting at the Cyclops, Sirens, and sorceresses he must face before he can reclaim his home and family.
