Uber Technologies has partnered with Adani Group to establish its first data centre in India, marking a major step in the company's growing technology and innovation presence in the country.

According to news agency ANI, Uber Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi announced the development on Wednesday through a social media post after meeting Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. Khosrowshahi said the partnership builds on Uber's existing relationship with the Adani Group and reflects India's growing role as a global innovation hub for the company.

Khosrowshahi further stated that the first Indian data center of Uber, which is being established in conjunction with Adani Group, would serve to test, scale up, and implement sophisticated technologies that would boost the global performance of Uber.

Additionally, ANI reported that the CEO went on to state that this data center was set to begin its operations later in the year and will help fulfill Uber's long-term dream of making technology products in India for the rest of the world.

The announcement comes amid Khosrowshahi's current visit to India, as well as Uber's growing involvement in India's tech ecosystem.

Previously, Adani Enterprises, via its JV firm Adani ConneX, had collaborated with Google in the development of India's largest AI data center hub, together with the green energy facilities in Visakhapatnam.

ANI concluded that the Google AI facility being planned in Visakhapatnam would result in investments worth around USD 15 billion from 2026 to 2030. The investment plan entails gigawatt-class data centers, submarine cables, renewable energy, and cutting-edge infrastructure that would considerably boost India's capabilities for AI computing.
