West Bengal: Actress Shrabanti Chatterjee joins BJP, says impressed with PM Modi's vision
Kolkata: After the announcement of the West Bengal assembly elections, famous Bengali actress Shrabanti Chatterjee has joined the BJP.
She said that the BJP should get an opportunity in the interest of the development of West Bengal.
"The Left Front ruled West Bengal for 34 years and the TMC has ruled for 10 years. There has not been as much development in West Bengal as it should have been. I want our sonar Bangla to be developed. For this, I wish the BJP should get a chance," Bengal actress Shrabanti Chatterjee said.
"I have never received any offer from the TMC. Yes, I respect Didi (Mamata Banerjee). I have also been on a stage with Didi. But the BJP's ideology affects me. PM Modi's vision has impressed me a lot,'' she added.
Shrabanti joined the party in the presence of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. She will be a BJP candidate in the West Bengal assembly elections.
"I have been working on the screen for many years and people have given me a lot of love. I want to work with the people on the ground and do something for West Bengal,'' she said.
She came to the film world as a child artist in the 1997 film 'Mayar Baadhon'. She played the lead role in the 2003 film 'Champion'. Apart from this, she also did films like 'Amanush', 'Kanamachi', 'Jio Pagla', 'Chhobial'.
Her web series 'Doojane' is also scheduled to be released soon. She has also appeared in TV shows. Shrabanti was married to Rajiv Kumar Biswas in 2003, but the two separated in 2016 and Shrabanti married Krishna Vraj the same year, but they separated in 2017. She then married Roshan Singh.
