A young woman who went viral during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj last year has now started a new chapter in her life. Monalisa Bhonsle, who became famous in 2025 while selling rudraksha malas at the religious gathering, married actor-model Farman Khan on Wednesday evening in Kerala.
The wedding was held at the Nayanar Temple, where the couple got married according to Hindu rituals.
Who is Farman Khan?
Farman Khan is said to be from Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh and is trying to build a career as an actor and model. He has worked in regional cinema, including Malayalam, Hindi, and Tamil films.
Monalisa said they were in a relationship for about six months. They first connected on social media and later met during the shooting of a film. Talking to reporters, Farman said their six month relationship felt like "sixty years of love", which is why they decided to get married. He also said that Monalisa was the one who proposed first. At first he refused, but later agreed.
What the couple said about religion
Monalisa said their marriage should not be seen as a religious issue. She said she respects all religions and that the wedding was done following Hindu customs. Farman also said he never asked her to convert to Islam.
Before the wedding, the couple went to Thampanoor Police Station asking for protection. They said Monalisa's father was trying to take her back home against her wishes. Police said Monalisa clearly told them she wanted to marry Farman and did not want to go with her father. Officers said she is legally an adult and can make her own decisions.
Monalisa later told reporters that her family wanted her to marry someone else in the family, but she refused. She said she is now happy with her marriage.
