Odisha cadre IPS officer Jagmohan Meena has resigned from the Indian Police Service. A 2013-batch IPS officer, Meena is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar.
His resignation has surprised many in the police department, raising questions about why a young officer chose to leave one of India's most prestigious government services. Meena has cited personal reasons for his decision and requested that his privacy be respected.
What Did Meena Say After Resigning?
The Odisha government has not yet accepted Meena's resignation. His request is still under review and awaits official approval. During his 13-year career, Meena played an important role in anti-Maoist operations, handled several high-profile cases and managed law and order in different parts of the state.
After announcing his resignation, Meena thanked the people of Odisha and the state government for trusting him with important responsibilities. He said it was a matter of pride to serve the state and its people.
A Rajasthan Native and IIT Graduate
Jagmohan Meena is originally from Sikar district in Rajasthan. Born in 1989, he completed his technical education before joining the civil services. He is also an IIT graduate.
He has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in districts including Malkangiri, Angul and Ganjam. Later, he served as DCP in Cuttack before being posted as DCP in Bhubaneswar. According to reports, Meena may join the private sector after leaving the IPS.
Known for Anti-Maoist Operations
Meena came into the spotlight in 2019 while serving as SP of Maoist-affected Malkangiri district, where he led several successful anti-Maoist operations.
