Legendary singer Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours on Monday at Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai. Her last rites were attended by family, friends, and many well known personalities from Bollywood, politics, and sports.
Film stars like Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar were present to pay their respects.
However, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were not seen at the funeral. This surprised many people and led to a lot of talk on social media.
Why did Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan miss Asha Bhosle's funeral?
As per a report on Decan Chronicle, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were in Mumbai during the funeral but did not attend because of security reasons. Neither actor gave any official reason, but reports say they stayed away because of crowd and safety concerns.

In a post on his X handle, Shah Rukh shared a picture with the music legend and penned, "It's truly sad to learn about Asha Tai's passing… her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come. A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love and i will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai… love you."
Salman also paid touching tribute to the legendary singer, he wrote, "A huge loss for Indian music…. Heartbroken to hear about Asha ji. An irreplaceable voice, Your songs will continue to inspire generations."
Asha Bhosle demise
Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 on April 12, 2026, in Mumbai after suffering from multiple organ failure following a chest infection and exhaustion. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital a day earlier.
