'World cannot run on jungle law': China issues direct warning to the US over attempts to change government in Iran

'World cannot run on jungle law': China issues direct warning to the US over attempts to change government in Iran

News24 Online 2 months ago

China has strongly warned against any attempt to change the government in Iran as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise. The statement comes at a time when the United States and Israel are carrying out major military strikes in Iran.

Some Western leaders have also spoken about the possibility of weakening or even replacing the leadership in Tehran, which has further increased global concerns about the conflict expanding.

Beijing has made it clear that it does not support any outside interference in Iran's internal political system. Chinese officials believe that the future of Iran should be decided only by its own people.

China Says There Is No Public Support for Regime Change

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the issue during a statement in Beijing on Sunday. He said that calls for "revolution" or attempts to change the Iranian government do not have the support of the country's population.

According to Wang, any effort to impose political change from outside will fail because it does not reflect the will of the Iranian people. He also stressed that foreign intervention in Iran's domestic affairs would violate the country's sovereignty.

Wang warned that forcing political change from abroad could worsen the crisis rather than resolve it.

"People of the Region Must Decide Their Future"

The Chinese foreign minister also emphasized that the people of the Middle East should decide their own political future. He said countries in the region must be allowed to manage their own affairs without pressure from external powers.

Wang stated that nations in the Middle East are the true stakeholders of the region and should be the ones determining how their countries are governed. According to him, the international community should respect the independence of Iran and other nations in the region.

He added that outside interference in internal matters could further destabilize an already tense situation.

China Calls for Immediate End to Military Operations

China has also urged all sides involved in the conflict to stop military operations as soon as possible. Wang Yi described the war as a conflict that should never have started in the first place.

He warned that wars fought with weapons only create deeper hatred and lead to new crises. Instead, China believes that diplomatic dialogue and negotiations are the only practical ways to resolve disagreements.

Beijing has repeatedly called for all parties to return to the negotiating table and work toward a peaceful solution.

Criticism of "Power Politics" in Global Affairs

Without naming the United States or Israel directly, Wang Yi criticized attempts by powerful countries to impose their will on others. He said the world cannot return to a situation where the strongest nations decide everything based on power alone.

According to him, international relations should not follow the "law of the jungle," where stronger countries act without regard for others.

China has said it is ready to support diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Middle East. As the conflict continues, Beijing is positioning itself as a country calling for dialogue, respect for sovereignty, and a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
