A video showing a large crowd waving saffron flags and dancing in the streets has gone viral on social media. Users claimed the visuals were from Uttam Nagar in Delhi, showing Hindus gathering in large numbers on Eid following the murder of Tarun Kumar, who was killed following a clash during Holi celebrations in Uttam Nagar.
Evidence
A reverse image search of key frames from the viral video led to an Instagram post uploaded by a @amar_sound_raichur, dated September 19, 2024. The post included visuals matching the viral clip and described the event as Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Karnataka's Raichur.
Subsequent investigation led us to another Instagram post by @dj_sonu_gulbarga, from September 23, 2024, featuring a longer version of the viral footage. The hashtags associated with the post, too, indicated that the footage showed Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Karnataka.
