Old, Unrelated Videos Go Viral Amid Flash Floods In Nepal
Fact
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to an Instagram post by Times of India, dated August 5, 2025, carrying visuals from the same incident. The post reported that at least four people had died after flash floods swept through Dharali village in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, following a cloudburst in the upper catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river.
Screengrab from Instagram post by TOIA Dainik Bhaskar report, also dated August 5, 2025, carried visuals from the same incident and reported that a cloudburst struck Uttarkashi. The resulting floodwaters and debris surged through the Kheer Ganga river and devastated Dharali village.
The incident was also reported by India Today on the same day, stating that a cloudburst near Uttarkashi had caused water, debris and silt to flow through Dharali, washing away houses and other structures. At least four people were confirmed dead, while more than 50 were reported missing.

Hence, we could conclude that an old video from the August 2025 cloudburst in Uttarakhand is being falsely linked to the flash floods in Nepal.
