The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested five shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi, Arju and Harry Boxer gangs, who were allegedly involved in three high-profile murders across Punjab and Haryana within five months and later claimed responsibility on social media .
The arrested accused have been identified as Ankush, Piyush Piplani, Kunwar Bir, Lovepreet and Kapil Khatri.
Chandigarh murder case
According to the police, Ankush and Piyush Piplani were directly involved in the murder of Inderpreet Singh alias Parry, who was shot dead in Chandigarh on December 1.
Piyush Piplani was the main shooter
The duo allegedly received instructions from gangsters Harry Boxer and Arju
Police had been conducting continuous raids in Punjab to track Piyush
How the arrests were made
The Delhi Police Special Cell received specific intelligence that Kunwar Bir was expected to arrive near Shanti Van in Delhi.
A trap was laid and Kunwar Bir was arrested
He was accompanied by Lovepreet and Kapil Khatri, who were also taken into custody
During interrogation, Kunwar Bir revealed the whereabouts of Piyush and Ankush
Both were arrested within three hours, around 8 pm from the Sarai Kale Khan area
Working for Bishnoi-Boxer network
Police said all five accused were working for the Lawrence Bishnoi-Arju-Harry Boxer network.
Piyush and Ankush, who are close friends, were involved in three murders in five months
They were earlier associated with Jogendra's gang
Later, they came in contact with Harry Boxer and started operating under his network
According to police officials, Arju and Harry Boxer had issued extortion threats in Delhi two months ago to establish dominance. While some gang members were arrested earlier, the arrival of Piyush and Ankush in Delhi indicated a fresh attempt to expand their criminal operations in the capital.
Three murders linked to the gang
Police have linked the arrested shooters to the following killings:
June 5 - Kabaddi player Sonu Nolta murdered in Pinjore, Panchkula
September 1 - Restaurant owner Ashu Mahajan murdered in Amritsar
December 1 - Inderpreet Singh alias Parry murdered in Chandigarh
Motive behind the killings
Investigations suggest that extortion and establishing criminal dominance were the primary motives behind the murders.
After the killing of kabaddi player Sonu Nolta, police intensified surveillance. During the arrests, the police also recovered weapons and live cartridges from the accused.
