The Iron Lady, Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi who was born on 19 November 1917, was an Indian politician and central figure of the Indian National Congress. Indira was the first and only woman Prime Minister of India. Indira, who belonged to the Nehru-Gandhi family and was the daughter of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Indira Gandhi has always been one of the most controversial figures in Indian politics. His marriage to Feroze Gandhi was mired in controversies and Feroze and Indira separated after the birth of Rajiv Gandhi.

Katherine Frank's book The Life of Indira Nehru Gandhi throws light on some of Indira Gandhi's love affairs. The book mentions that he also had an affair with M. O. Mathai, a German teacher in Santiniketan.
