According to Hindu scriptures, it is believed that deeds (Karma), are related to the female or this worldly life, in which the woman sits on the left side. For example, when a woman is busy in service or worldly work, she will sit to the left of the husband. Such rules have been made.

Talking on the other side, when a male head, virtuous or salvation work is done, the wife sits to the right of the husband. Such as Kanyadaan, marriage, yajna and worship. Know which side of the husband the woman should sit on.

वामे सिन्दूरदाने च वामे चैव व्दिरागमने , वामे शयनैकश्यायां भवेज्जाए प्रियार्थिनी।

According to this verse, the wife should sit on her husband's left side when vermilion is donated. At the time of dawn, food, sex, sleeping, blessing and serving the elders.

कन्यादाने विवाहे च प्रतिष्ठा - यज्ञकर्मणि , सर्वेषु धर्णकार्येषु पत्नी दक्षिणत - स्मृता।

This verse means that the wife should sit to the right of her husband only when there is the act of Kanyadaan, marriage, Yajna Karma, worship or any other religious work.
