Eggoz Egg Safety Controversy Grips India After Viral Lab Test Claims
New Delhi, December 11, 2025 — Premium egg brand Eggoz Nutrition is facing widespread public scrutiny after a viral video and independent lab test alleged the presence of banned chemical residues in its eggs, sparking food-safety concerns across social media and news outlets.

The controversy began when the YouTube channel .Trustified . released a report claiming that blind laboratory analysis of .Eggoz eggs detected AOZ, a metabolite linked to nitrofuran antibiotics—a class of substances banned in many countries due to potential genotoxic and cancer-linked effects.
Reports indicate the detected AOZ level was approximately 0.73–0.74 micrograms per kilogram (ppb).

The findings have triggered debate on whether the brand’s “antibiotic-free” and “chemical-free” claims hold up under scrutiny, with critics arguing that even trace residues raise questions about food-safety compliance and regulatory oversight.
In response, Eggoz issued a public clarification, stating that its eggs are “absolutely safe for consumption” and comply with all standards set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The company further asserted that trace chemical findings may result from environmental factors rather than antibiotic use, and announced additional testing through independent NABL-accredited laboratories to reassure consumers.
Eggoz’s co-founder has described the viral allegations as “misinformation and fear-mongering,” defending the company’s long-standing quality controls and transparency efforts.
Medical professionals and public health commentators have weighed in amid the online debate.
Some experts emphasise that natural egg consumption is not inherently linked to cancer, noting that trace residues in a single batch do not equate to widespread health risk, while calling for stronger systemic food testing and regulatory enforcement.
As the controversy continues to spread across platforms like X and Reddit, it has ignited broader discussions about food supply chain transparency, branded product claims, and the robustness of regulatory monitoring in India’s rapidly growing branded egg market.
