A powerful storm struck Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, resulting in seven fatalities and 21 injuries. The severe weather caused extensive damage to the electricity infrastructure, destroying over 50 transformers and several power poles, which led to significant power supply disruptions.

District Magistrate Indrajeet Singh confirmed that restoration efforts are in progress and the electricity department has been deployed to manage the situation. Speaking on Wednesday, Singh stated, “Around 3 PM today, a very powerful storm struck, in which seven people were killed, and 21 others were injured. The storm also disrupted the power supply, destroying more than 50 transformers and several poles. The electricity department is taking action in this matter.”

He further stated that officials are working continuously to provide compensation to affected families, with all teams actively engaged in relief work. “We are working around the clock for compensation. The entire team is active,” he added.
