Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) posted a commanding total of 219 for 6 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at Mullanpur on April 11. The innings was propelled by an explosive opening partnership, particularly a blistering 74 from Abhishek Sharma.
The openers set an aggressive tone from the start, with Sharma and Travis Head taking control of the innings and helping SRH reach over 100 runs within the powerplay overs. In the third over, Arshdeep Singh conceded 24 runs, allowing Hyderabad to surge to 44. Sharma reached his half-century in just 18 deliveries during the fifth over, showcasing his aggressive strokeplay with five fours and eight sixes.
SRH recorded their third-highest 100-plus score in the powerplay phase of the IPL, accumulating 105 runs without loss inside the first six overs, a feat unmatched by other teams in Men’s T20 cricket. Despite the strong start, PBKS managed to make some breakthroughs when Shashank Singh dismissed Head for 38 off 23 balls and then Sharma off 28 balls.
The momentum remained with Hyderabad, who reached 132 for 2 after 10 overs. Arshdeep Singh claimed the wicket of Hyderabad captain Ishan Kishan, who scored 27 off 17 balls, during the 14th over as SRH stood at 176 for 3 in 15 overs.
The innings lost some momentum towards the end due to regular wickets falling, with Aniket Verma, Salil Arora and Heinrich Klaasen unable to convert their starts into substantial scores. Despite this, SRH finished strongly at 219 for 6 in their 20 overs. For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for 50 runs, Shashank Singh 2 for 20, and Xavier Bartlett claimed 1 for 42.
