A rare manuscript written in Devanagari script, believed to be approximately 200 years old, has been found in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. It is set to be transferred to the International Ram Katha Museum for preservation.

Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Director of the International Ram Katha Museum, stated that the manuscript could date between 150 and 200 years old. He explained that the script, which developed from Nagari to Devanagari, displays differences in letter formation compared to modern writing. Specifically, older letters had open bases with attached vowel marks.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, “Nagari gradually evolved into Devanagari… Today, letters are formed differently, while the old script had open bases with attached vowel marks. On this basis, I can say that this manuscript could be about 150 to 200 years old.”

In a separate incident, thirty tea garden workers from the Manohari tea estate in Dibrugarh have begun a pilgrimage to Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya and Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the tea estate on April 1.

The Prime Minister’s visit involved interacting with workers and plucking tea leaves during his trip to the poll-bound state of Assam.
