Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has offered a candid reflection on anxiety and the overwhelming impact of the internet, providing followers with insight into his contemplations amid the relentlessness of social media.
In a post on his personal blog, the 83-year-old actor discussed the difficulties of managing thoughts and expectations in an increasingly fast-moving digital environment. “Each day brings on fresh thoughts and ideas… and the desire to pursue each one with the diligence it requires,” he wrote, adding, “All of it cannot be assembled in one ‘go’ .. so you work on the principle of ‘one at a time’ .. Fine .. but the mind keeps reminding of what has yet to be done and the anxiety of it.”
He further described how even attempts to pause do not quiet the mind: “You leave everything and sit back… hoping that the mind shall stop its ‘adventure’… but no it does not.”
Bachchan highlighted how “the storm of the internet blows strong,” complicating the ability to discern what is important amid the influx of online information and rumours.
Reflecting on how information is consumed today, the actor noted that although access to knowledge has become instantaneous, it has come at the expense of deeper thinking. “The speed of knowing is now at the press of a button… not the ‘think button’ of the cerebrum,” he wrote, implying that the internet often overshadows reflective thought.
He also addressed generational viewpoints, calling the current era a “fascinating tale of time” for those who have seen sweeping technological shifts. He contrasted nostalgia for the past with younger generations’ focus on the immediacy of the “now.”
Earlier this week, Bachchan shared a similarly introspective message, acknowledging the universal human quest to find meaning. “There shall not be a definite answer to a question… each express has multiple tributaries,” he wrote, concluding, “You came empty handed… and shall leave similar.”
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan was most recently seen in the film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, directed by Nag Ashwin, starring alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan. He also recently completed his role as host of the 17th season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
