A joint cordon and search operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force has entered its seventh day in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The operation began following intelligence inputs indicating the presence of suspected terrorists in the region.
On Thursday, heavy firing and shelling occurred in the Dorimal forest area as Operation Sheruwali reached a critical stage. Security forces tightened the cordon to neutralise suspected militants hiding in the dense terrain.
Officials stated that a substantial deployment of security forces, with additional reinforcements and logistical support, was dispatched to the encounter site to establish a “strong and impenetrable cordon” to prevent militants from escaping through the thick forest cover.
The operation is being conducted on a large scale, with officials affirming that “every possible effort” is being made to neutralise the militants. The entire area remains under strict security surveillance while search and combing operations continue deep inside the forest belt.
Security forces maintain a tight perimeter as they work to flush out the suspected terrorists from the dense forest region. Operation Sheruwali is a major joint counter-terrorism operation undertaken by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF in Rajouri district.
