Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva praised the party's third consecutive government formation in Assam and its significant win in the West Bengal assembly elections on Monday.
Speaking to ANI, Sachdeva stated, “We have formed the government in Assam for the third time, the victory in West Bengal is huge…We thank the Prime Minister…Mamata Didi has been making only allegations for the past year. The people of Bengal have also given a clear message to Mamata Didi… we don’t want illegal immigrants…”
According to the latest trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP leads in 195 out of 294 seats in West Bengal, while the incumbent Trinamool Congress (TMC) holds a lead in 87 seats. The Indian National Congress (INC) leads in two seats, the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) in two, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in one seat.
West Bengal recorded the highest-ever voter turnout since independence, with 91.66% polling in Phase II of the assembly elections. Combined with the 93.19% turnout in Phase I, the overall participation reached 92.47%.
In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election, the TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, secured a decisive mandate by winning 213 out of 294 seats with around 48% of the vote share. The BJP emerged as the principal opposition with 77 seats and approximately 38% of the votes. The Left-Congress alliance failed to win any seats.
