bRS to win over 90 seats, KTR calls Congress rule a disaster in Telangana

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) sharply criticised the Congress government on June 3, claiming it has led Telangana into decline following a decade of rapid progress under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

Speaking at the “Meet the Press” programme held by Press Club Hyderabad, KTR described Congress as “the first enemy of Telangana,” accusing it of repeatedly betraying the Telangana movement’s aspirations. He asserted that significant advancements in agriculture, irrigation, drinking water, education, healthcare, welfare, and industrial growth occurred under KCR’s leadership but alleged the current Congress administration suffers from policy paralysis and governance failures.

KTR condemned the Congress government as “an utter disaster,” stating it gained power through false promises and has failed to deliver on its guarantees. He accused it of deceiving farmers, youth, employees, women, and other social groups.

Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR alleged a collapse in financial management and cited recent Reserve Bank of India data as exposing Congress’s accusations about the previous government’s debt. He claimed the Congress regime incurred substantial borrowings quickly while failing to provide tangible benefits to the public.

Regarding paddy procurement, KTR criticised the government for failing Telangana’s farmers due to delays, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of preparedness. He said farmers were left struggling at procurement centres, with their produce exposed to rain and losses.

KTR also accused both the Congress government and the BJP-led central administration of collaborating against Telangana’s interests. He labelled the current regime a “Modi-Revanth partnership government” and alleged attempts to undermine the state’s successful free power policy for farmers through the proposed “Rythu DISCOM” model.

Reiterating BRS’s dedication to farmers, KTR warned that any attempt to dilute free electricity would face strong public opposition. He said Revanth Reddy had historically opposed free power for agriculture and was now pursuing policies that could increase farmers’ burdens.

Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, KTR stated that if elections were held today, BRS would secure more than 90 Assembly seats. He forecasted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s defeat in Kodangal at the next election and challenged him to seek renewed public approval via by-elections involving defected legislators.

KTR criticised the government’s handling of the Future City project, alleging it served real-estate interests. He pledged that a future BRS administration would review and cancel the initiative.

Referring to BRS President K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR called him the party’s “trump card” and affirmed that KCR would return to actively lead the fight against what he termed Congress misrule.

Concluding, KTR stated that Telangana’s people would hold the Congress government accountable and expressed confidence that BRS would regain power with a decisive mandate.
