A CBI Court in Lucknow has sentenced Jishan Khan to 10 years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 in connection with the 2015 culpable homicide case of Inspector Anil Kumar, the SHO of Kotwali police station in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the case on June 29, 2018, following a May 23, 2018, order from the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench in the Arti Gujar vs State of UP case. The CBI took over the probe into Crime No. 1081/2015 of Kotwali City police station, Pratapgarh, which was originally registered under Section 302 IPC against unknown persons.
After completing its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against two accused, Jishan Khan and Bocha, alias Raju Soni. Cognisance of the offences was taken on February 22, 2021, and charges were framed against both accused on December 14, 2022.
During the trial, Jishan Khan submitted a written confession of the charged offences on April 4, 2026. His case was then separated from the main file on April 10, and assigned a new case number, 574/2026.
On May 2, 2026, the Court of the Learned Special Judge, CBI, Lucknow, convicted Jishan Khan based on evidence on record and his confessional statement, and sentenced him accordingly.
