About 130 participants attended, including students, village leaders, conservation volunteers, community members, and representatives of various institutions. The event aimed to bolster community stewardship, foster coexistence between people and wildlife, and enhance public involvement in conserving one of India's vital tiger habitats.

The programme was inaugurated by Bomol Basumatary, Headmaster of Khamardwisa M.E. School, serving as Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Moidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Simla Outpost; Yuvraj Singh Digra, Assistant Conservator of Forest at Manas National Park; Mrinal Jyoti Daimary, Range Forest Officer, Bhuyanpara Range, Manas National Park; Hemen Nath, S.I., SSB; Rinu Daimary, VCDC Chairperson; Argeng Basumatary, ABSU NK Unit Secretary; Satish Das, President of the Eco-Development Committee; Parmadhar Basumatary, Gaonbura of Daodhara; and Gokul Basumatary, Gaonbura of Gorumara.

The celebration commenced with a Cycle Rally through Lwkhibazar, where participants disseminated conservation messages and engaged local residents on tiger protection and the need to preserve ecological balance. This rally underscored the increasing role of communities in protecting the Manas Landscape's forests and wildlife.

Addressing the attendees, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries emphasised the tiger's role as an umbrella species whose preservation safeguards entire ecosystems. They highlighted that the species' survival relies not only on forest protection but also on the active support of communities residing in these areas. Young attendees were encouraged to act as conservation ambassadors.

A technical presentation on tiger conservation in Manas National Park was delivered by Nitul Kalita, covering the current status of the tiger population, conservation efforts, emerging challenges, and underscoring the importance of community participation.

To promote wider public engagement, an Open Quiz Competition focused on wildlife and tiger conservation was held for students and community members. Additionally, the event featured a prize distribution ceremony recognising young conservation champions from the Art Competition conducted on July 26, 2026, during pre-International Tiger Day celebrations in the Koklabari area.

In the senior category, Akhrang Muchahary was awarded first prize, Bhumika Brahma second, with Sanfung Ramchiary and Mwikhwm Brahma sharing third. The junior category winners were Kushmita Ramchiary (first prize), Hayensa Brahma (second), and Jamuna Swrgiary (third).

The programme was organised under the leadership of Dr Sonali Ghosh, Field Director of Manas National Park & Tiger Reserve; Dr M. Firoz Ahmed, Director and Head of the Tiger Research and Conservation Division (TRCD) at Aaranyak; and Dr Dipankar Lahkar, Assistant Director of TRCD, Aaranyak. Coordination involved Detsung Basumatary, Nitul Kalita, Momita Narzary, Bijay Basumatary, Daimalu Basumatary, Pankaj Das, Barnali Boro, Bubli Basumatary, Binita Baruwati, Mizing Boro, Bijeet Baro, and Dhananjay Muchahary, alongside officials from the Forest Department, MMES, and Ferenga Ecotourism.

This initiative is part of the IUCN-KfW-supported project 'Securing Population of Tigers, Habitats and Biological Corridors in Assam, India'. Aaranyak continues to advance community-led conservation efforts within the Manas Landscape, promoting both tiger protection and broader biodiversity conservation.
