A formal police complaint was lodged against Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan at the LB Nagar Police Station on June 3, 2026, under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.
The complaint alleges that Kalyan made derogatory and defamatory remarks about the late Telangana balladeer and activist Gaddar.
The complaint was filed by advocates Phanindra Bhargav M and Ravikumar Vody Arapu. They objected to a statement made by Kalyan during a widely broadcast press conference, in which he claimed that Gaddar had requested a car from him, which Kalyan then gifted.
The complainants described the statement as “false, fabricated, and defamatory,” arguing that it was intended to hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community and supporters of the Telangana movement. They noted that since Gaddar, a respected Dalit icon and Telangana freedom fighter, is no longer alive to respond, the claims amount to intentional insult and criminal defamation aimed at tarnishing his legacy.
They further contended that by falsely asserting that a senior Telangana movement leader depended on him for a vehicle, Kalyan deliberately humiliated and denigrated a prominent Scheduled Caste community member in public, which has caused widespread anger across the state.
The police complaint states that the actions of the Janasena chief violate provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning intentional insult, defamation, and promoting enmity. The advocates requested that relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act be applied, since the statements target the dignity of a revered Dalit leader.
They asked the Station House Officer to register a formal case, conduct a thorough investigation, and take strict legal action.
