Dehi Capitals (DC) won the toss and elected to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match on Saturday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
DC captain Axar Patel, explaining his decision after winning the toss, stated that the pitch offered good batting conditions and favoured teams chasing. He confirmed that the playing XI remained unchanged and remarked on the benefits of the recent break following two losses. He emphasised the importance of focusing on the team's strengths.
“I am going to bowl first. The wicket looks good and hard. Chinnaswamy is obviously a good chasing ground. Same XI. (On having a long break) It’s good to have that break after losing a couple of games. We need to focus on our strengths,” Axar said during the toss presentation.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been one of the most dominant teams this season, combining strong batting and bowling performances. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, their batting lineup has been consistently effective. RCB have secured four wins from five matches and aim to add another victory to their campaign.
Conversely, Delhi Capitals have had an inconsistent start to the tournament. Led by Axar Patel, they have displayed moments of quality but are yet to string together a complete performance. They have won two of their four matches and seek to achieve their third win of the season.
The playing XI for RCB includes Virat Kohli, Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (captain), Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, and Josh Hazlewood. Their impact substitutes are Rasikh Salam Dar, Venkatesh Iyer, Jordan Cox, Mangesh Yadav, and Vicky Ostwal.
Delhi Capitals’ lineup features Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (captain), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Auqib Nabi Dar, Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, and Mukesh Kumar.
