The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, paid homage at Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking the Prakash Purab of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
Sandhu offered prayers and participated in the langar alongside devotees, reflecting the Sikh principles of seva and equality.
In a post on X, the official Lok Niwas account described Guru Tegh Bahadur ji as the ‘Hind Di Chadar’, emphasising his supreme sacrifice for humanity, religious freedom, and justice. “Humble tributes to the ‘Hind Di Chadar’, whose supreme sacrifice in defence of humanity, religious freedom, and justice continues to inspire generations,” Sandhu stated.
Earlier, Sunil Ambekar, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, accompanied by Ramanand, Director of the Centre for Policy Research and Governance, visited Sandhu at Lok Niwas.
Sandhu was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on March 11, taking oath in the presence of Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. His appointment was part of a significant administrative reshuffle of Governors and Lieutenant Governors nationwide, replacing VK Saxena, who has been assigned as Ladakh Lieutenant Governor. Sandhu was also a BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
