Delhi Police's Foreigner Cell arrested two Bangladeshi women working illegally as domestic helpers in Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, on April 1. The women, Afroza Khatun, 47, from Narail district, Khulna, and Luki Begum, 36, from Comilla district, were intercepted while heading towards Haiderpur.
They initially claimed to be Indian citizens employed as housemaids, but their inconsistent statements raised suspicion.
A team led by Inspector Vipin Kumar and supervised by ACP Akash Rawat conducted surveillance based on specific informer input. Investigation revealed that both women were Bangladeshi nationals residing in India without valid documents or visas.
One woman is a graduate from Bangladesh who came to Delhi to earn more money, while the other is illiterate. Police recovered two smartphones containing the banned IMO application and Bangladeshi national identity documents stored in the phone gallery.
The women have been produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), and deportation proceedings have been initiated. This operation forms part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to prevent illegal immigration in the capital.
